THE SELECTION PROCESS!
The Selection and Application processes overlap and many times they have TWO stages: PRE and POST. They ALWAYS have TWO divisions: SCHOOLS and SCHOLARSHIPS.
BEFORE you apply TO Schools or FOR Scholarships, you have to select (or DECIDE) WHICH Schools and WHICH Scholarships.
AFTER you’ve been ACCEPTED by Schools and AWARDED Scholarships, you AGAIN must SELECT WHICH Schools and WHICH Scholarships.
At this point, SOME BUSINESS decisions MUST be made by the TEAM! Students AND Parents MUST understand that students need guidance in making these decisions, and that the Parents have the FINAL SAY, or VETO POWER!
The Student is DEPENDENT at this point in his/her life, and the Parents KNOW their financial position best.
Also, remember this: It’s OKAY to CHANGE your mind for good reasons…Students AND Parents. You need to workout the BEST deal. And the Student has to be happy.
Co-operation, Compromise, Consensus
This is where you have to remember your original goal, and get as close to that as you can.
