W.E.B Dubois Creed

W.E.B Dubois Creed
There is a West African proverb that states: "Parents don't raise children, villages raise children." It is in this spirit that we at the W.E.B. DuBois Learning Center endeavor to serve our community.

Our children are indeed our future. They will be our future thinkers and doers. We need them to be as Kwame Nkrumah said, "thinkers of great thoughts and doers of great deeds." For this to happen, it is incumbent upon us with the most interest, the most to gain, and the most need for our young people to succeed to do our best to see to it that they have every opportunity we can give them to fulfill their potential.

Genius and talent are uniformily distributed throughout the population. It is the opportunity for its development that is not. One of the best ways to ascertain knowledge is to be around it. With this in mind, we have assembled some of the most knowledgeable and most capable persons in our community to volunteer their time and talent to work with and for our children. They deserve it. Because children learn more from what you are than what you teach, it is our intention to provide them with the role models and mentors that exude the characteristics we need to impart to them.

In the sixties we used to say "Kazi pamoja – pamoja tutashinda." Which is Swahili for "Work together – together we shall win." In this spirit we look forward to serving our community.
To Overcome -

"When we can change

    My to our

    I to us

And me to we

We will have unity

When we begin

    To act together

    And not alone

To benefit our total sum

Only then will we overcome"
