The mission of the W.E.B. DuBois Learning Center's "Telecommunications Hub" is to establish "Satellite Centers" throughout the community to enable students, and other residents, to have access to current Information Age technology.

This will enable students to have the use of current software, within walking distance from their homes, that can assist them in writing papers, Internet research, and educational tutoring. Other community residents will have this same access.

The first three satellites of the Telecommunications Hub:
  • Church of Christ — 5620 Swope Parkway,
  • Covenant Presbyterian Church — 5931 Swope Parkway, and
  • St. Louis Catholic Church — 5930 Swope Parkway were wired by students under the apprenticeship of certified electricians.

After a week of classroom training explaining the project and the tools, process, and terminology involved, the students spent three weeks doing the actual wiring.
